Welcome back to Rise Prep! I have some exciting things in store for scholars this year. Our ELA curriculum is from Expeditionary Learning which will be infused with ongoing technology in the classroom. There will be an emphasis on literacy which will include close reading, novel study, independent reading, writing, and fluency. NEWSELA, Edgenuity, Coach Digital, and Study Island are also part of the eighth grade ELA and Writing curriculum. Please take advantage of the resources that are available on my website. Current Happenings:
We have started our Reading Closely for Textual Details: We Had to Learn English unit. Scholars will focus on the strategies for reading complex texts on Immigrants coming into the United States. Please encourage scholars to read each night using those close reading strategies.

Friday: Read the passage on refugees and answer the first question under Topic, Information, and Ideas.
